If God Is Telling You to Move On

Dear Friend:

We are living through an extraordinary age during which many so-called Christian denominations have lost their way.  The Bible accurately predicted this:  “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).  This kind of deviation from God’s truth is also written about in the Old Testament:  “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20).  Of course, there are always folks who say, “Well, I don’t really believe in all this bad theology, but I put up with it for my friends.”  You’re playing with fire, my fellow believer!

Jesus says in the Revelation, “Nevertheless, I have this against you:  You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess.  By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality…” (Revelation 2:20).  Think about that in relation to what’s happening in your denomination right now.  Do you tolerate the new direction?  What is tolerated today is fully accepted tomorrow.  The celebration and normalization of complete insanity is already underway.

While human sexuality is the issue of our day, what’s driving denominational schisms is a rejection of the authority of God’s Word, and that’s the core issue.  Many church leaders today despise Holy Scripture, so they’re twisting it into false and depraved teachings that secular culture applauds, but our righteous God abhors.  The plain meaning of the text has been hijacked and perverted by liberal leaders in an effort to advance their all-consuming need for worldly acceptance.  This acceptance, of course, requires bishops, district superintendents, and pastors to invent a Jesus who is unrecognizable when compared with the whole counsel of God.

Is the Holy Spirit calling you to opt-out of your current church?  Is the Spirit saying to you, “Enough is enough”?  If so, then I’d like to invite you to join us at Barrow GMC.  We’re not the perfect church, but I promise you this:  we stand on God’s Word, and we maintain that every verse of Holy Scripture is just as relevant and necessary today as it was thousands of years ago.  God hasn’t changed!  We encourage you to become a part of this great thing that the Lord is doing at BGMC.  Jesus Christ is Lord, the fellowship is warm and relaxed, and, most importantly, the Holy Spirit is moving in a powerful way!

Blessings,

Pastor Dave
